Description

First of all I would like to give thanks to Eremita for suggestion a series, without that suggestion this would not have been done. If you haven't allready checked his art then you should, he is an amazing photographer

You know how sometimes you just want to throw your computer in the same direction you just threw your camera?

Well this shot has been like that for me. First an amazing amount of attempts of getting a decent looking selfportrait and then hours and hours trying to get the lighting and mood right. A very painfull experience so in the end the mood I tried to find became more and more real. This was painfull.

However all the work and frustration might very well mean that this will be the last shot in this series, not sure yet. If nothing else I learned a lot of new stuff about my camera and GIMP.

Please fire away with C&C, I so need all the help and suggestions I can get

Thats all for now.

Love
Johannes

the pose is awesome, you look so vulnerable and fragile. the lighting looks perfect too. so that's just great, good job ^_*

Your efforts paid off as this is excellent. The lighting works perfectly, highlighting you and illuminating the floor just enough to add to the scene. (thumbup)

Wow... This is so expressive... I'm really glad you posted this, I feel like I can see a lot of your personality here. Very artistic, moody.

Very good. I like your method of off-setting the figure to one side, whilst also leaving a clear area above - it provides an excellent visual balance between figure and space.

Your body, as in the first one, is also in a good position - highly suggestive of your chosen topic, in this case, pain.

Very, very careful and well presented piece of work Johannes!

Well well... let me tell you something: the first picture was very well composed BUT this one is a lot stronger !!!! You show more parts of your body so like the position of the hands are elocuent about pain !!!! I believe this is very deep in concept. I like the compo, some areas are a bit blur (like foot). I like it a lot ! Keep going.... don´t get anxious, relax and ejoy photography !!!

Its great that you dare to post something of yourself like this. Many would not be able to ;) The lighting is great. I wish your tatoos were darker so they provided better contrast to the skin. That position alone looks painful but Im sure your concept goes deeper than that . Great use of off setting the subject. Concept is great. A really good job Johannes :)

Yes, the position of your body really adds the mood to this photo. Fisrt I wasn't sure if I liked the blue light coming from behind, but quickly realised it had to be there. The contrasts brings forward the shape of your body.

I love your tatoos btw. ;)

Very well done Johannes. The combination of your words and this strong and emotional image creates a powerful piece of art. Technically well done. I personally like the lighting better from your first of this series so I might suggest a bit more darkening to leave more to the imagination. I see from the above comments however, that I am in the minority concerning the lighting. That's OK ... it's just my preference.

Very well done Johannes.

I haven't got more to say... I love your expression and nudity (it's so difficult to have a good naked body to photography), and the tatoos I don't know why but they give more pain to the photo (they're lovely!!!). Although, just my maximum votes for you, it's a PERFECT work. Congratulations Johannes : )

Sorry for being so late, mate.. Been busy with school and such most of my time. But here it is.. :)
Very brave of you.. this pose.. Very "dristig" :) Nice light, ground texture, but maybe your skin is a little too yellow and "overlighted" on the right.
Nice message (How i see it): A prisoner or such being tortured for a very long time. Scared, Alone in pain.. Very nice. Love it.. :)

Got your PM - sorry a day late - been busy.

An emotive shot for sure FJ, but I did like the mystery and "lost and found" edge/shape in the shadows of the first more. More abstract and interesting.

This stands on it's own merits, tho, and not much I can add to what's already been said!

Wow. I love this. The balance is perfect. the colors are brilliant. The only thing that bugs me a tad bit is the background. On the floor there is lighting.. but on the back wall.. it seems that there is no light. It makes it feel a little copy-and-paste if you look closely. It's still wonderful.

hi !! i'm back... and i now see Your work... and what i can say... hmmm...
two cases:
1. i don't like this capture - this pose looks not really good especialy with this light on floor...
2. hmmm... nice shot because looks like u cans show use alienating man... without unneedet elements... just man on floor, clera and simple... maybe this light looks nto really good but i can't crit...

as u can see i can't tell u generally "i like this one" or " i don't " ... very hard to crit. piture... maybe this is sign of class this capture ?
